Virtual Get Well Nick Johnson Card

Posted on September 24, 2006 at 12:49 pm

Get well gift basketA bunch of us in the Natmosphere and dedicated readers/commenters sent the get well basket pictured to Nick Johnson fronted with my credit card (but everyone’s pitching in Sunday at the tailgate party!). I was extremely limited by the 210 character limit on the card. I added several Nationals bloggers’ and fans’ names after an uninspired “Heal fast! Look forward to seeing you back next season! -Just Some Nats Fans-” greeting. I wanted to get it sent today before he’s possibly moved to another hospital, so the order has been placed. But the card seems kinda lame and I know a lot of people wanted to be included that I couldn’t reach on a Sunday morning, so I’d like this to be a virtual card for people to add comments and maybe someone will be kind enough to print it out and bring it to him (or if enough respond, I’ll print it and mail it to RFK). Some notes to Austin Kearns would be appreciated too, who is probably needing some virtual hugs and words of encouragement.

Nats trainer Tim Abraham just said on a radio interview that they don’t anticipate there will be any problems for Nick to return in time for spring training.

    Dear Nick,

My family sends our thoughts to you in the healing process. It was heartwrenching to see the collision and aftermath. I wish you a speedy recovery and full health when you return for spring training in 2007. Good luck in your rehab!

    Austin,

So sorry about the freak accident! I hope you come to peace with it and start smiling again soon!
