Missed the new stadium fly-through?

Posted on March 16, 2007 at 7:12 pm

Well, have no fear, you have another chance to see it! Set that DVR now if you plan on being out of the house Sunday (like I do). There will be a Washington Nationals Ticket Sell-a-Thon (is that like the PBS phone-a-thons?) on WUSA 9 Sunday from 11:30 AM to Noon. The show will be hosted by Washington Post Radio’s Byron Kerr (Geico Nationals Insider), new TV broadcaster Hall of Famer Don Sutton (is it required to *always* put the HoF bit first?), team president Stan Kasten, and the ever charismatic new manager Manny Acta.

A thirty-minute television special featuring interviews by team personnel, new ballpark flythrough animation and a scrolling ticker with ticket sales information

I’ll try to record the flythrough this time so I can include it in the next Chat’s Nats! (hmm… does ‘That’s Chat’s Nats’ have a better ring to it?). I’m also kinda curious to watch and see how that ticker increases during the show. Anyone care to sponsor a poor blogger for one of those fancy luxury suites? I’ll even take one day in the President’s Club (and I promise not to leer through the batting tunnel windows – honestly).

Also, another DVR reminder! I just programmed mine to record Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic at 5:00 PM Monday night when the new Washington Post Live! show debuts. I expect a shout-out ;-) Haha – just kidding! (maybe)

Maybe if the Nats had something lower than a 20 game plan..or sold simgle game tickets at the team stores as they promised..or had their promotions schedule listed.Who cares about a flyby..hell the Yankees have about 20 game plans listed and they really don’t have to do it.

Nats Sales and Marketing..get on the balll!!Just because you have a new stadium in 2008 does not mean you rest on your laurels.

I like That Nat’s Chat. It’s got how you say… something. Maybe if all the DC area bloggers pooled their money we could rent out a suite for a game. Or maybe we can convince the wonderful people at Comcast SportsNet to let us use their suite one night as part of a Washington Post Live segment.

Oooh I especially like that last idea!

The Nats aren’t the Yankees yet (thank goodness), but remember, this is their first preseason as owners. I think they are trying to get it all together, although obviously the focus is on 2008 – most likely because it’s a huge business operation to turn around and make the way they want it. The plans in place are carryovers from MLB management while they implement their own plans. (I suddenly have Love Boat in my head – “The Plan! The Plan! I see the Plan!”)

A promotional schedule would be nice. I had to make my top picks for our season ticket pool without knowing, but I usually pick by date/opponent more than what trinkets will be handed out at the gate anyway. If something major is happening (like last year’s grand reopening of RFK), I just buy single tickets to that game.

Miss Chatter, are you the one we see at the home games wearing the red Gary Bennett jersey?

    Heh… yep, that’s me.
