For the second game in a row, the Nationals won in extra innings in the most bizarre way. This time, Zimmerman was oh-so-clutch with a walk-off walk! If you tuned out when the game was down 6-1, sorry! Ryan Church belted a three run homer and Alfonso Soriano followed later with a two run shot to tie the game 6-6. In the bottom of the 11th inning, Castro was walked, Fick sac bunted him over, Soriano was intentionally walked, Lopez also walked, and then Zimmerman took a few (some barely out of the strike zone) to… you guessed it… walk in the winning run! Bang zoom!
Now I’m settling in to watch Livan Hernandez pitch against his former teammates for the second game in the double header. This also gives me a chance to check out one of Bowden’s newest acquisitions with a little nookie in center field. I mean Nook Logan in center. For all the glorious details, check out Federal Baseball who took the time to sort it all out and I see no need to repeat his excellent effort.

Damn! “Walk this way” was the title we were going to use for our recap. Let’s see…how about “A Walk in the park”…or something. Damn.
At least you got to see the games. I have to wait ’till Sept. 8 here — and mlb.com won’t let me watch ‘em today…
Ha! Sorry! (Wow, it paid to be fast for once).
WOOO! Cordero just struck out three in a row to seal the 2nd win! Now.. what was I saying?
Oh yeah, hey, enjoy the tv next week – especially now that they’re winning a little more :-)
P.S. You can still use “Walk this way” for all I care! I think I’ve doubled up what others have used before. When it’s good, it’s good, ya know?
Ok, maybe if I use “Walk this way*” with an asterisk thrown in there, and a footnote giving you proper credit? Maybe I can think up something else. Who knows. We’ll see.
Hey, winning is fun, isn’t it?
Deciding whether to (re)use a title for a recap of a winning game seems like a v-e-r-y nice problem to have.
jw – we couldn’t agree with you more.
