Very Belated Happy Hour Wrap

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been over a week. Oops! Like I said, deadlines… I attended the Steinbog-advertised DC Sports Bloggers happy hour last Wednesday and had a blast! Other Nationals bloggers in attendance were JammingEcono from Banks of the Anacostia and WFY. I usually feel like the odd (wo)man out during DC Blogger happy hours where I’m the sole sports-only representative (meaning most people have no idea who I am!). This time I was just the only female blogger (DCSportsChick couldn’t make it) and I’m totally ok with that. It means I didn’t buy all my own drinks heehee (thanks, guys!). I was very curious about the teasers Steinbog had been letting out about a new Comcast SportsNet show that will feature him and other bloggers… and just maybe yours truly might be at the roundtable once? Hey, I’ve been practicing, right?!

It was great to meet the folks from Comcast and other far more well-known national sportsy blogs than this one. I can’t remember everyone in attendance, but here are a few quick hits. You may have noticed new commenter MDG (I have to remember it’s not MGD – Miller Genuine Draft) – he was there and is one of the newest writers over at NationalsPride with the blog Natspirin. Kind of a bummer since I got him to agree to let me film and get an exclusive on the Presidents Race auditions next week, but now he has his own blog, so I’m letting it go (that’s my traffic court date for the boat trailer spin-out oops anyway and I probably shouldn’t reschedule it). So give him a hearty welcome to the Natosphere.

289, known for his master Photoshop abilities for sites like WithLeather and Deadspin came down from Philly for the occasion. He offered to redesign my logo here. Awesome! I’m thinking something along the lines of an “Ambassador” theme. Goes with DC and I try to get the fans what they want, so does it work? Name won’t change. At least not at this time.

Unsilent Majority was also in attendance. You can find his comments almost everywhere on Deadspin and the Bog. Also a contributor at Kissing Suzy Kolber.

I swapped cards with Comcast guys and Gustaffson from On Frozen Blog (love that name). His wife also attended the Caps’ Hockey ‘n Heels night. I actually had to order more cards after that night! Awful Announcing had the most complete list of drunks attendees and the funniest challenge. I finally met the famous Jamie Mottram aka Mister Irrelevant from AOL Fanhouse (also a big part of the new show if I’m gathering my facts correctly).

I’m giddy at the prospect of blogs getting cameos in the televised arena. Although, I felt humbled by the bloggers at the happy hour – most of whom blog on a national scale. Wow. I have a hard enough time keeping up with one sport mainly focused on one team (although, I’m not unemployed with all that liesurely time haha!). But if by chance my mug is going to appear on a boob tube near you, I’ll keep ya posted!
