Put On A Happy Face
March 13, 2007
(The title of this post has little to do with the subject matter – it’s just the song that comes to mind when I look at this picture)
Hey, kids! Did you know there’s a new stadium ballpark being built for the Nationals along the Anacostia River waterfront? So isn’t it ironic that over the weekend I modified my header to use essentially the same picture Stan Kasten is posing in front of two days later? (Sorry this picture turned out crappy – shouldn’t have used flash but I figured it was a safer bet for one shot than missing the mark on the exposure of a non-flash shot). Mr. Kasten wore a very happy face as he revealed a virtual tour video walk-through of the new ballpark today, and I must say, it looks very cool. I guess I’ve gotten accustomed to RFK because I was blown away by the differences proposed for the new ballpark. Not that I’ll probably ever set foot inside some of those suites, but the President’s Club… Wow!!! Gonna have to scheme me a way to at least get the pleasure of that experience at least once. (Suite (sweet?) names may change without notice even though I’m partial to the presidential namesakes, but here are some neat mock-ups of the suites and clubs hanging on the walls at the Nats offices). I’ll have more tonight during the next That’s “Chat’s Nats” episode (yes, another name change – apparently WTEM has a That’s Nats segment) where Mr. Kasten makes his cyberspace debut.

Hey Miss C,
Is it possible to link us to the virtual tour video walk through?
As for WTEM’s That’s Nats segment. Phfffffft! 6 minutes a day. That’s it. WTEM will disect the summer eating habits of our beloved Redskins. Hours and hours worth of airtime on Redskin NOTHING!. The Nat’s are enjoying a first place run in 2005, and WTEM spent 6 minutes per day discussing it. John Riggins had Stan Kasten on for 1 hour last week, and during the season he has had 2 or 3 Nats per week call in from the stadium for a pre-game chat. I love the Redskins too, but WTEM should talk about all DC sports. I’m sorry they took your moniker – ’cause they don’t use it that much.

Unfortunately, no, they were giving it out on beta tapes and I didn’t realize that when they showed it, so turned the camcorder off. I do not have a beta tape player! The news outlets should be showing it tonight, though. Someone did put a copy of FOX5’s on the web here so you can see part of it (but the impressive part was inside the President’s Club and stuff).
As for the episode name – I kinda like “Chat’s Nats” better anyway :-) Nobody should have that name!

Very cool! I’m sorry you had to give up the name That’s Nats, but I’ll keep watching anyway!

MDG, I bet! So how sworn to secrecy are you? ;-) And you’ll have to let me know which one you’ll be so I can say hi!
Dave, thanks! I don’t mind changing the name – I want something unique and it ties it back to “misschatter” I guess! Nobody told me to, but when I realized someone else had already had the originality, I decided I had to come up with something new. Mr. C was kinda bummed since he originally came up with “That’s Nats” and was shattered to realize he wasn’t the first.
Next one is coming… just waiting for YouTube to finish it’s processing thingie.
