Still Learning to Write

Date December 2, 2007

With a book behind me, you’d think I’d have this writing thing figured out at least somewhat by now, but no, the learning continues. There are topics I’ve stayed quiet on, such as free agency as names were bandied about like Torii Hunter, Andruw Jones, and Aaron Rowand. I didn’t believe anything would come of the rumors based on Kasten’s oft-touted philosophy of developing through the draft and trades. So I didn’t say anything and figured silence on the subject would be as meaningful as saying something, but now realize that’s not the case in this type of medium. I should have actually voiced my thoughts that nothing would happen rather than posting nothing as a way of transmitting my thoughts. Silly me!

I am trying to pay more attention to columnists and how they voice their opinions and thoughts without letting outside noise clutter their voices. I don’t think every opinion has to be controversial full of pot shots and rile people up. Although, maybe I should try that on occasion instead of always being the ‘nice girl’. Ha! One thing that drives me nuts is when people lump all bloggers into broad generalizations. We’re just as different as columnists are on their approaches and stances. I don’t think anyone would say Thom Loverro and Tom Boswell are identical and stereotype them together, right?

Speaking of controversial, the Nationals did not offer arbitration to Robert Fick, so I guess that answers my last question in a previous post. They could still re-sign him, but it’s not looking positive right now. Kind of a bummer that the duo of Fick and Dmitri Young may be split up. Aside from Zimmerman, we could be watching an entirely new cast of players come as early as 2009.

Maryland lighthouses - a history type thing with historic pictures. Not really heavy-duty writing, but a lot of research.
