The Holy Grail of Sports Lenses
February 4, 2008

Woo! For our anniversary, Mr. Chatter got me a gift card for Penn Camera — enough to cover a rental of this mega-lens. Last time I tried to reserve it, they were booked, so I haven’t tried it out yet. This time, I got my reservation in early and this puppy is mine for the March 29th exhibition game. In fact, they’re closed Sundays, so I’ll have it for opening day as well for no extra charge. Wheeeee! Not sure I’ll actually get to use it for opening day, though. We’ll see! I’m so psyched!!

Hehehe!! Very funny, Rocket1124!
Not through the gates, no. I’ll (hopefully) have a photog credential for the exhibition game (gotta get the new ballpark’s first game!) and I’m keeping fingers crossed for opening day, but not sure on that one yet because they’ll probably be slammed with national press. That’s why I said I may not be able to use it the second day (which would be a sad waste).

What’s the rental fee on that?

$75 per day. I was seriously looking at the Mark II and Mark III bodies too… But those rent for $200+ (but think of the burst rates…!)

Now that’s a dream. Being up close AND having that lens. I’m just hoping to get to the game!
