Prep for the weekend

Date March 24, 2008

With the new season about to start, I guess I should figure out what to do about my scorebook this season. I had enough pages of my custom system left for spring training, but that supply is now drained. It’s also not a perfect system since it requires turning pages after about the fifth or sixth inning. Maybe if I can stomach going to a larger (8.5 x 11) format, I can fit it all on one page. On the other hand, I now have a Bob Carpenter scorebook from last year’s Baseball 101 event that I only scored one game in as a test run. So I could just use that. I kind of prefer my system only because I can scan the game in chronological order and easily match photos to innings/plays without having to look up and down columns and count which inning it is. Plus, I have more room to write or star things in the margins of my system to make sure I mention particular plays later. I guess I’ll play with trying to fit it on a single page and see how that goes. I’m running out of time!

Also, I’d really like to upgrade my photography equipment to a more professional level this year (theoretically with auto-focus drives that work better!). I’ve spent an hour or so reading consumer reviews and picking out the stuff I want (new lens, new camera body, EF extender…). I like dreaming…! Maybe I need to set a goal that also motivates me – like if I sell my Mustang, then I can buy the equipment I want. Hmm… wonder if Mr. Chatter would go for that? Hee!
