Hill on Sunday?
April 9, 2008
I have tickets to Sunday’s game and have been eagerly anticipating seeing Shawn Hill make his first appearance of the season with the major league club. Shawn Hill made his Potomac pitching debut last night on a rehab assignment and Brian from Nationals Farm Authority was there to capture the evening. (I totally would have been there, but was umm… practicing my Fox Trot and Single Swing with Mr. Chatter, as we do on Tuesday evenings) From the quotes, it sounds like Hill’s return is still up in the air and may require another rehab start as he seemed to tire as the innings progressed. We may hear what the plan for him is later today.
Also not to be missed, as Brian points out, is Jordan Zimmermann’s excellent debut for the P-Nats.
Zimmermann went four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks with six strikeouts to earn the save. Aside from a tense ninth inning where he loaded the bases with one out, he kept the Pelicans hitters off balance all night.
The final score was 2-0 with Hill and Zimmermann combining on a six-hit shutout.
I’d expand, but gotta fly to the game!
