Got My Green On! Lot 7 Tonight
June 4, 2008
I’ve always had awkward moments, particularly throughout my scrawny long-legged teenage years. I’ve learned to not obsess about how dorky I seemed as I’ve gotten older, but those odd moments of saying or doing something, well, awkward, still strike on occasion. So I’m perfectly comfortable wearing two shades of solid green in support of Planet Green and tonight’s “Get Your Green On” initiative. I even biked to work yesterday! I just hope it doesn’t rain and make me look more like a salamander. Although, judging by the remaining crowd last night, rain delays are the perfect opportunity to scooch down for better photos. Also, don’t forget tonight is one of those Lot 7 at RFK nights due to a DC United game.
Golly jeepers Dave and Charlie! Riffing on the Cardinals player named Joe Mather, radio broadcasters Dave and Charlie took off on a Leave it to Beaver tangent. Hilarious! Given the losing streaks, lack of offense, and defensive oopsies, anything to stay entertained in the booth (and the fans) works! They can’t just go offline like I have. Although, my lack of offensive production has been mainly due to being slampacked busy both at work and with lighthouse and family stuff. I was cracking up at their imitations and the background theme music provided by Steve Ray was awesome! During the 2nd rain delay (that game should’ve been called so a do-over could be rescheduled before the 5th inning was completed ensuring the 6-1 loss), they had to talk to fans so I emailed. I did ask a genuine baseball question about the upcoming draft, honestly! Play was about to resume, so they skipped that part. They did predict a win for my birthday Saturday (stay tuned for a new post about that). Chalk up another awkward moment! Heh.
Speaking of do-overs - what was with trying to throw the runner out stealing 2nd with a runner on third? Does that ever work and the runner on third not score while the ball is traveling elsewhere?
Injury-riddled: Odalis Perez left the game after four innings with shoulder tendinitis. Ryan Zimmerman has finally been placed on the 15 day disabled list and Kory Casto was called up to replace him on the roster and promptly inserted into right field last night. More Boone! I guess we’ll be seeing a lot more of Aaron Boone for a while, which is a good thing since he’s the only guy who seems to be hitting lately.
