Do The Funky Chicken

Balk – balk – balk, chicken! Okay, without getting into the fact that the Nationals seem to have way more balks called on their pitchers than any other team, last night’s calls against Odalis Perez did seem a little unfair and overzealous of home plate umpire Angel Hernandez. After the second balk ruling in the third inning after a throw to first, I would love to be able to read lips and know exactly what Perez was jawwing at Hernandez that led to Perez’s ejection from the game. Boy was he hot!!

Of course, the ejection didn’t help with the overuse of the bullpen chronically suffered by the team. They were shutout 2-0 in the series opener. How about Joel Hanrahan pitching 2 innings of no hit ball? Way to go!

I’ll be at tonight’s game and hopefully get my photos up sometime tonight as I have to work at 2 AM and it will give me something to do to stay awake until then!
