Coldplay on XM 51

Date July 15, 2008

Woo! That’s my most exciting news for today – 30 days of nonstop ColdPlay on XM 51. (Is that groaning I hear?) I’ve been listening to the promos for today’s big event for a month and just remembered to switch the channel from Ethel. Anyone catch their concert at the Verizon Center last month? I totally wanted to go. However, the more I listen to them, the more they seem a little mellower than my liking. I need a good pick-me-up!! Too much cruddy stuff going on these days.

In the good news arena, Ryan Zimmerman began his rehab assignment yesterday and hit two doubles in five at-bats as designated hitter for Potomac at Salem.

I watched the Home Run Derby for the first time last night. I would imagine it’s much more exciting to be there in person, particularly in the outfield stands. Kind of a yawner on tv, although Josh Hamilton using a 71 year old pitcher was awfully cute.

Hamilton said he’s asked Clay Council, a 71-year-old longtime American Legion and high school coach from North Carolina, to pitch to him.

“He’s hit me hard over the years, but he’s done that with most people,” Council said. “He told me he’d bring me years ago if he was in the derby. I’m excited to do this.”

Council said he’s been to Yankee Stadium one other time, to see Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series.

“He’s been throwing batting practice for 30 years,” Hamilton said. “He just loves the game and loves throwing to kids and helping them. I figured it’d be fitting.”

Hamilton broke a record by hitting 28 homers in the first round, but lost to Justin Morneau in the final round. Exciting stuff, no?

Hmmm I wonder if MLB.tv will be broadcasting the red-carpet event this afternoon for free to non-subscribers?

I guess I should go make sure my kids are out of bed so I can bike into work shortly. I had to promise Mr. Chatter I would take the trail all the way to Veitch (nearest to my office) rather than the shortcut bike lane through Clarendon. Blah – the hills! My goodness, the hills! Apparently I used to be in much better shape. When the Princess was a baby, her daycare was a block from my DC office and I would pull her in a trailer on my commute and make it up those hills on the way home. The day I began passing people while pulling the trailer was a rush! (picture me flexing my muscles and doing my best Tim the Toolman impression) Now I’m a wimp, but over time, I will conquer!

Maybe I’ll try to twitter pic my ride in as long as I don’t drop my new iPhone. I’m loving the new software options!

Why am I not surprised that you got a new iPhone? :-) What did you do with the old one?

Heehee! Hey girl! We need to get together again soon! You up for a night out yet?

I gave the old one to Mr. Chatter to essentially use like an iPod Touch (since he’s locked into Verizon through his company for cell service).

Yeah, I might be up for the next Ladies Night! If nothing else, we’ll probably see you on Sat.

Lucky Mr. Chatter! Frank would be jealous :-)
