Day 4 of 365 - Where’s the flippin’ rain?

I’m gonna be on TeeeVeeee!!! I think, anyway. Today was supposed to be the day I ferried a television crew out to the lighthouse in my boat, something I’m both excited and nervous about. Taking anyone out used to have me fretting about what horrible thing would go wrong, usually with the boat. Not so much worried about the boat anymore (a former source of panic attacks just thinking about going out), but more how I will appear to viewers on television? Uninformed? Boring? Hopefully inspiring and energetic enough to convince others to join the cause! While this is the perfect PR and exposure my little nonprofit needs, I’m a nervous wreck about the whole thing and couldn’t wait to get it done, while being totally jazzed at the opportunity.
Anyway, the forecast for today was pretty darn ominous as of yesterday, so I suggested we change it to Friday. High winds and thunderstorms are not ideal conditions for trying to tether a bouncing moving object in rough seas to an immobile large cylinder that requires some acrobatic work to board. So my original plan for today’s self-portrait was scrapped and changed a few times. Originally, it would have been out at the lighthouse or on the boat, of course (see “Day 3” getting the boat ready). When I rescheduled, I thought an artistic shot of standing drenched in the rain would be perfect (again to explain why there’s no lighthouse photo today). Ok, no rain. Next option, quizzically holding the umbrella (while also terribly disappointed). The weather today was not too hot, perfectly calm, and perfect for going out. Here’s hoping the winds stay calm on Friday and there aren’t any more surprise enormous dead birds or gaffes that will cause me untold embarrassment in front of a television camera.
What does this have to do with the Nationals and reporting? Absolutely nothing! But they say the cure to a slump is to keep swinging the bat, or in this case writing (hmm… a theory spammers subscribe to as well lately). So there. Besides, with the Nats on the road and not having them to photograph at the moment, this is my other project. Heh.
Now where’s that “slimming” slider in Lightroom??
