MissChatter is dead
October 14, 2008
They say marriage involves sacrifice, and the time has come to send the misschatter persona to the sacrificial stand for the mighty blog beast to devour in order to bestow peace and harmony upon my family. As you know, I don’t get paid for this and it was supposed to be fun, but fun that doesn’t involve my family and takes a ton of hours outside of work isn’t the best management of my time. I’ll still be rooting for the Nats and I’m sure you’ll find me at events! It’s been fun – I’ve enjoyed the conversations, exploration of my photography dreams, getting my 15 minutes of fame, and meeting so many wonderful people through this who have become friends!
Keep an eye on Flickr if you’ve enjoyed the photography. Knowing me, I probably won’t be able to put the camera down.

Tonight’s the night?
October 14th, 2008 at 9:56 am
Yeah, you’ll see me around. Heh, Nate! I didn’t want to copy the title, but considered it! :-)

Sorry to hear that. Looks like the catch phrase will have to be changed to, “You had a blog?”
October 14th, 2008 at 10:25 am
a darn shame.
October 14th, 2008 at 10:34 am
Surprised and sorry to hear that you are done with the blog. Maybe you could just do it every once in a while when you feel like it or have time instead of feeling like you have to do it every day. That might bring back the “fun” part of it.

I have enjoyed your coverage and will certainly be checking back with the Flickr photos. I love the high quality of them!
I have a camera question: I need an entry-level camera that will get me good sports photos but I don’t want to spend too much. I’m considering a dSLR but am not sure. Do you have any advice?

Sorry to see you sign off, but it sounds like you have your priorities in order. Take care of yourself and your family.

You’ll be missed!

NOOOOOOOOOO!!

Sorry to see the end of your blog, but enjoy your time with your family, and good luck with your job. And I’ll definitely keep an eye out for Flickr.

Sorry to hear you’re punching out; hopefuly you know that your work (and it is thankless work, sometimes, isn’t it?) was appreciated. You’ll be missed. Take care.

SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!!!!! It is so tough juggling family, work, and free time. When you start sleeping less than 6 hours a night, its a problem.
October 14th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Oh no! (And I just figured out how to use RSS feeds so that I don’t need to keep checking all the blogs for new posts.)
Thanks for your fun contributions and personal touch.

Well, that’s a bummer! I’d better still see you offline though.
October 15th, 2008 at 6:50 am
Thanks all. Like I said, I’ll still be around haunting comments in the Natosphere and the back alleys of the wapo blogs. I’ll still do Baseball on the Barn next season and definitely be around offline! I do feel rather disembodied at the moment, which will take some getting used to!
Kenny, my recommendation would be a Canon Rebel. It looks like the new Nikon D60 might be good too, but I don’t know the price (I’m a Canon girl).

@Kenny — I also shoot with a Canon Rebel, although I’m more interested in event photography and I’m more of a generalist. But either a Canon or Nikon will have plenty of helpful discussions online. It’s a little like the discussion of Apple vs. PC.
FWIW, I ended up choosing a Canon by going to Penn Camera and handling both to see which felt more comfortable. They have very knowledgable sales staff and are willing to spend a lot of time answering questions. I use Ritz from time to time for supplies and a quick print for class — the sales staff is sometimes good and sometimes not, but their inventory isn’t as extensive. I occasionally get supplies from Best Buy or similar places, but I figure I need to go in knowing what I want.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This can’t be happening. Perhaps part time :’-(

I assume you just found out that Gary Bennett was no longer with the team.

I don’t blame you for quitting. I used to review movies online “for fun” and then all of a sudden, I hated it. Too much demand (which I guess is flattering). I’ll miss reading your posts and using them as procrastination of my life tasks. Now I’ll need to find something new to do to avoid doing my work! See you around, of course.

I should add the expected reply
“Long Live Miss Chatter”

Very saddened to read of your decision. We thoroughly enjoyed your stories and articles. Know that they were greatly appreciated, and that Miss Chatter will be missed. Ed and Linda

wow. sorry to hear it. I must confess being one of those “casual fans” that probably annoy real baseball fans like yourself. (shhh, i go for the hot dogs and to walk around, hang with friends) but my fiance and his family are HUGE nats fans and have mentioned your blog so I checked in and definitely admired your style, your dedication and passion. I saw your decision via my fellow DCblogs contributing editor’s post and thought (hoped) I read wrong. You will definitely be missed – and hey, no shame in changing your mind down the road, if you find a way to do it all (even on a more modified schedule). All the best, ww

Long live Lady Chatterly.

Farewell, Miss Chatter. I’m sorry to see you go, but I certainly understand the reasons. Your blog was in the top of my list of RSS feeds. (But, as you can tell from when I’m writing this, I haven’t checked those that often lately.)
Thanks for some great citizen-sports-journalism!
