Julie McCoy is no Tom Davis

Every cruise ship needs a cruise director and every stadium needs an entertainment director. As I have traveled around the country for a variety of sporting events, you certainly get a sampling of team entertainment. The Nationals have put together the best talent for the National Anthem which is fitting for the Nation’s Capital, as well as some of their other great unique entertainment like the President’s Race.
From saxophones to trumpets to members of our military belting out the tune of the Star Spangled Banner, I think Francis Scott Key would be proud since he was a Washingtonian from the Georgetown area and would fit in well today in DC since he was also a lawyer (yes that is true).
Tom Davis doesn’t write lyrics, but does have his script to run the daily game time entertainment. As he started as a Nat Packer and was promoted to the “chief” of entertainment making sure everything from the National Anthem, President’s Race, Tshirt toss, and everything in between is fun and goes off without a hitch.
Sure Clint gets all the face time, so most don’t know Tom Davis (and no, he isn’t the Congressman from Virginia’s 11th District) unless you get to the stadium real early to see Tom prepping everyone including the practice singing of the Star Spangled Banner.
When I was at the recent jersey unveiling, there was Tom Davis and his group of President’s outside of the ESPN Zone and inside Tom soon went to coordinate the models who would walk the stage wearing the new jersey designs.
The Nationals have so many great behind the scenes people that I will Blog about as the off-season goes on as these are truly the unsung teammates that make the whole behind the scenes function.
