Lifestreaming MissChatter

Date November 24, 2008

Ok, so I’m really in a coma – or hibernation – and not dead yet. I’ve run into many people who have asked me to please come back (including my husband, if to mainly justify his MR CHAT license plates (that’s a joke, honey)), and it’s hard to resist (apparently I’m not as strong as Needham). I seriously went into mourning after I posted I was quitting. I feel like the Nats (everyone, not just the team on the field) and all the various appendages like media, bloggers, etc. have become part of my family over the years and quitting them was incredibly hard to do. I couldn’t imagine a life going forward where I wasn’t making corny videos or sitting in my seats trying to get the best shots around the people streaming up and down the aisles, frustrating as that was. Being removed from PR lists was painful and being on the sidelines or completely left out of future events, well, banish the thought!

When I started this site I was on a mission to crack into that inner sanctum of baseball and find out what was going on behind all the mystery and secrecy beyond the rules of the game. Maybe even have a barbecue someday and get to know who people are beyond the press sound bites. I became part of the problem as it got to the point where there was more I couldn’t say than I could say (fine for me, but not so great for my readers). I learned to respect people’s privacy even more than I already did, but I had less to write. However, there are still things to see and do and fun to be had and I’m sure I can strike a balance, so MissChatter will continue her antics, but in a different form. I’m going to work on building a new site and setting up some top secret plans as we shiver through winter into a new season. This site is still open to fans for posting – although so far we have just one! I’ll potentially be working with a big blogging/social media software company to set up the new site, which is pretty darn exciting. It should be unveiled by the time I head down to spring training the first week of March. (ahh Florida, how I miss your sunny warmth and beaches!)

In the meantime, Dave Jageler’s wife Jenn indirectly tipped me off to something called “life streaming”. Always eager to try out the latest greatest fad, I decided to give it a whirl. It’s not the prettiest site, but if you want to keep up with my scatterbrained thoughts, you can follow it here. Basically it just aggregates everything I post to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube. Some of it is baseball-related, but not much :-) Mostly it’s a random bag of crap of what’s in my head at a particular moment.

Stay warm and enjoy Thanksgiving!
