Festivus for the restuvus

Date December 23, 2008

First baseman Mark Teixeira just signed an 8 year contract with the Yankees. From reports that have trickled in, the Nats’ offer may have been longer/higher, but whatever. Happy Holidays. The rest of us will begin airing our grievances.

So here’s what I say: Nick Johnson, please come back and have a healthy season. At least I won’t be torn about that anymore. (Yeah yeah, I know he could still be traded).

Nats: Please spend that $20+m a year to bring in a few proven pitchers, etc. and stop piece-mealing a team together out of scraps. If the minor leagues are truly “done”, time to quit the reclamation projects.

Whew, at least the soap opera roller coaster is over. Just goes to show, you never know. The Yankees were “waiting in the wings” and then swooped in like a hawk and took the prey away just like that.

Well said and I share your sentiments.

I would like to see the Nats get Orlando Hudson and bolster the bullpen as I don’t like the fit of Adam Dunn. Also, please sign Ryan Zimmerman long-term!!!

Save the rest of the money for next year and get Matt Holliday who will be a Free Agent and sign Stephen Strasburg.

I want to thank the Nats for their valiant attempts at trying to sign Teixeira.

Stick with Nick Johnson at 1st with Dmitri and Wily Mo in the wings as backup. You might as well as all 3 are paid for and will be difficult to package in a trade.

Use that money and pour it into depth rather than just one guy. Nats need pitching, a stronger farm system, and pitching.
