I think the rivalry is the Mets, the way it's shaping up. There have been some great games and series against the Phillies, and they're closer, but it seems to be the Mets series that get everybody worked up.

Other ex-Nats on the Mets now: Endy Chavez, Marlon Anderson. And of course, don't forget that our skipper is the Mutts' former 3B coach.

Great video blogging!

Thanks for the tip, Stan the Man! I have absolutely no sway in who the Nationals call up. But I did go look up <a href="http://clippersbaseball.com/team/statistics/index.php?autoload=teamstats_batting&sort=avg&page=1&team_id=445" rel="nofollow">de Caster's stats</a>... yep, he looks to be doing pretty well!

I think the techie-term is 'vlog'? Good point on historic rivalries - I grew up with the Cubs/White Sox one.

Would love to go head to head with the Mets in a real pennant race (or more!). That could be fun!

Too Cool! I like the use of technology. I'm sure you'll be smooth as silk after it becomes second nature. Keep up the good work!

Interesting video blog (vilog? V-Blog? vid-log?). The only interleague rivalries that I see involving any real hatred are Mets / Yankees and Cubs / White Sox. And those fans hated each other long before interleague play. Giants / A's doesn't involve that sort of active dislike between the two fanbases. I remember in the 1989 series fans wearing 1/2 and 1/2 hats with the Giants' logo on one side and the A's logo on the other. The media (especially MLB.com) can't really go into the real reason Nats fans hate the Orioles -- because that hatred is directed at the owner for non-field-related reasons.

We've got the start for a rivalry with the Mets: the bitter games, our knocking them out of the race last year, and the potential of head-to-head competition between Zim and David Wright as faces of the franchises. We just need to go head-to-head with them in a real pennant race or two. That's what develops the, "I'm a fan of two teams -- the Nats and whoever's playing the Mets," attitude.

Ha, thanks! My only concern is that I tend to flubber and stutter while recording, and there's no edit function. (I tend to re-record and edit a ton) I'm worried I'm going to bomb trying to use this, but we'll see. Plus, I can't stick my groovy music and intro into it :-) It's live recording! But might be a fresh approach...
