Resume Baseball Activities (Nyjer)

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 2:30 pm

First off, many thanks to CSNwashington for holding their first blogger bash last night at RFD in DC! I had a great time meeting new faces and reconnecting with familiar ones. I won't say old! Since I wrote about Nyjer Morgan's recent escapades yesterday [LINK], what I left unsaid was retaliation by the Marlins was surely imminent, particularly since Hayes had been diagnosed with a separated shoulder and is out the rest of the season. I commiserate there [LINK]. While ... Continue Reading

Zimmermann Rocked – Morgan Blocked

Posted on September 1, 2010 at 8:31 am

Jordan Zimmermann gave the largest dose of hope since Strasburg was diagnosed as requiring Tommy John surgery throughout his performance last night. He pitched practically flawlessly for six innings, facing the minimum of 18 batters, striking out nine, walking none and only allowing one hit. A perfect display of returning to form from Tommy John surgery (and again, in only twelve months). He should have been the story of last night's game that posted zeros across the line score until ... In the doghouse

For skipping a movie last night and staying glued to the game (what, did you think something else?) I was intrigued by the new lineup. 1. Kennedy 2. Desmond 3. Bernadina 4. Zimmerman 5. Dunn 6. Morse 7. Pudge 8. Morgan 9. Livo A truly brain-flipping order. Zimm and Dunn at 4 & 5? Morgan 8th? Bernadina where Zimmerman usually is? Mmmkay - that should be interesting. I was mighty curious how it would work out. Ghostbusters on the barn was set to start at sundown (shortly after 8 PM), so ... Continue Reading

08-01-10 Phillies 6 Nats 4 (Photos)

Nats fans were poised at the ready with the brooms, but with a completely revised lineup, the Nats didn't deliver in Lannan's return to the mound again facing the Phillies. A cool light rain fell through the heart of the game that spanned 11 innings, with the Nats ultimately falling after Collin Balester allowed two runs in the top of the 11th. Tenth Day of Strasmas

Posted on July 28, 2010 at 8:50 am

On the tenth day of Strasmas, my true love gave to me... 10 Tomahawk strikeouts, 9 Bullpen innings, 8 Storen pitches, 7 Of those strikes, 6 Total Nats hits, 5 Golden frames... 4 Stolen bases, 3 Early Nats runs, 2 Throwing errors, And M. Batista starting the game. I considered inserting a scratching record sound after "9 bullpen innings" but figured I may as well finish out the verse. For one thing, I'm not sure how to insert audio into written word seamlessly enough to properly convey the jarring reaction a ... Continue Reading
