Oh my gosh!! I just found this! The Luke Montz interview did turn out after all :-) Kind of sad that I asked him about bench coach Pat Corrales just days before he was let go. Whew, could I have talked any faster?!

Thanks to MASN Fantasy Camp for the treat! And hey, I didn’t ask him about his favorite color, drinks, or lighthouses. I’m getting all growed up!

Where were my index cards?! Ok, first off, the taking on Chico Harlan bit was all in jest! He did a fine job in his first season of covering the team for the Post and we obviously serve different functions. I’m a Mac to his PC (I totally wanted to use that line and it slipped — along with others). Seriously, I think Post writers do use PC laptops for work while I use a Mac, so there is some truth to that! I think for my first TV appearance this went pretty well, although the time flew and my 10 minutes was actually 7 minutes, so I wasn’t able to go very in-depth into anything. There was so much more I wanted to say, but I also didn’t want to talk over anyone. Feedback? Critiques? Applause? Heh.

I would totally do that again! Kim, the hair and makeup woman, was so flattering! Who can resist getting made up and fawned over? What’s not to love? I just wish I had turned more toward the cameras. All you can see is my pointy nose in the profile shots! And wow, my hair is short. Thanks much to Littles, Russ Thaler, Dan Steinberg, and Jamie Mottram for having me on the set. I was so nervous, but now that I’m not a virgin, if they ever have me back on, hopefully I won’t be shaking! But look Dave, I didn’t freeze up!

If anyone’s still interested in Nats chat (or my major league TV debut ha!), tune in to Comcast SportsNet tomorrow at 5:30 (show starts at 5 PM). I have no idea what writers will be on with me because as far as I’m aware, all the WaPo baseball writers are off covering the postseason in cities no where near DC. This year, anyway. Someday… I can guarantee no Frank! (I promise!)

And gah!! The Cubbies are losing again!

Ok, enough with the rumors!

I don’t have time to sit and digest all the negative rumors and reports flying around — some with new information and some rehashing stuff already out there a while. I do know that I backed the Lerner ownership group way back when because Stan Kasten partnered with them. If he is pushed/driven out or leaves due to frustration, then I don’t know what to think. Stan used to have a sense of humor and presence everywhere. Lately, he either has lost his sense of humor or doesn’t recognize me since I changed my hairstyle. I’ll go ahead and believe the latter since Thom Loverro (who was in fact allowed back into Nationals Park last night) didn’t recognize me either. Hopefully I didn’t offend him while we were discussing his column on the franchise being ‘no jewel‘, which ran alongside Mark Zuckerman and Tim Lemke’s article (the mirroring of the article in the column was more prominent to me since I read them back to back). The two stories have set the Natosphere abuzz.

Obviously, I (and most fans) don’t have a window peeking in on the front office and rely on the reports of journalists to fuel my mounting insecurities surrounding this franchise. I have never talked to Jim Bowden (other than that one passing in the street which was all of two awkward sentences — incomplete at that!), and all of my exchanges with Kasten have been about as deep. So I can only feel the slow anxiety creeping in and speculate like the rest of the Nats loving world.

I do, however, hope like mad no one quits in the predicted mass exodus on the sides I have built relationships in! Great, now I’m going to fret all off-season rather than look to trades and free agent signings with the eager innocence of a child picking out ice cream at Baskin Robbins.

But Wait! My media stints aren’t dead yet

Just a heads up about something I’m pretty excited about… I’ve been asked to appear on Comcast SportsNet’s Washington Post Live! next Friday, October 3rd, to chat Nats and blogs. Cool stuff! I’ll be on at 5:30 for about 10 minutes. So definitely tune in, DVR it, record it if you still have a VCR and gimme your feedback after. I think you can stream it live on Washingtonpost.com too (I know you used to be able to). I’m guessing I’ll be on with Chico Harlan, the Post beat writer, but don’t know for sure.
