Resume Baseball Activities (Nyjer)

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 2:30 pm

First off, many thanks to CSNwashington for holding their first blogger bash last night at RFD in DC! I had a great time meeting new faces and reconnecting with familiar ones. I won't say old! Since I wrote about Nyjer Morgan's recent escapades yesterday [LINK], what I left unsaid was retaliation by the Marlins was surely imminent, particularly since Hayes had been diagnosed with a separated shoulder and is out the rest of the season. I commiserate there [LINK]. While ... Continue Reading

Zimmermann Rocked – Morgan Blocked

Posted on September 1, 2010 at 8:31 am

Jordan Zimmermann gave the largest dose of hope since Strasburg was diagnosed as requiring Tommy John surgery throughout his performance last night. He pitched practically flawlessly for six innings, facing the minimum of 18 batters, striking out nine, walking none and only allowing one hit. Some excitement!

Posted on August 11, 2010 at 6:21 pm

The facts are a little confusing. The true age of ballplayers from other countries is often viewed with suspicion, but generally the ballplayer sticks to one date and that's what pops up in all articles and stat pages. Yet in the past two days, I've seen Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez's age listed in articles and elsewhere as both 40 and 44. How can this be? Nationals.com: Nationals promote El Duque to Double-A Hernandez, 40, is 90-65 with a 3.72 ERA in nine ... Continue Reading

Dunn Still A Nat

Posted on July 31, 2010 at 4:06 pm

You won't hear the PA announce "Guuuzzzzmannn" anymore as Cristian Guzman was traded to the Rangers. And the Clipp n Save phrase no longer includes Capps, who was traded to the Twins (yet any closer getting saves could still fit the bill there if Clippard remains in the setup role). However, you will still hear "Adaaaamm DUNN!" reverberate around the stadium. The 4 PM trade deadline has come and gone and it looks like Dunn will remain in tonight's lineup ... Continue Reading
