09-29-10 Last Game

The most bittersweet game of the year... The season at home is over. Adam Dunn, unusually emotional, earns the Golden Sombrero! But after the game (loss) ends, the players give away goodies to fans behind the dugout. 4TH : Screech and the Racing President mascots wish Stan Kasten farewell in the final Presidents' Race of the 2010 season 4TH : Dunn strikes out for the 2nd time in a game where he eventually earns a Golden Sombrero, striking out in all 4 ... Philthy

In sad irony, the Phillies invaded Nationals Park on opening day to beat opening day starter John Lannan 11-1, with Halladay on the mound for the visiting home team. They returned tonight (with fans in tow) to clinch the NL East, with Roy Halladay again on the mound and the rest of the Phillies winning 8-0 again against John Lannan during his final start of the season on his birthday. Resume Baseball Activities (Nyjer)

First off, many thanks to CSNwashington for holding their first blogger bash last night at RFD in DC! I had a great time meeting new faces and reconnecting with familiar ones. I won't say old! Since I wrote about Nyjer Morgan's recent escapades yesterday [LINK], what I left unsaid was retaliation by the Marlins was surely imminent, particularly since Hayes had been diagnosed with a separated shoulder and is out the rest of the season. I commiserate there [LINK]. While ... Continue Reading

Zimmermann Rocked – Morgan Blocked

Jordan Zimmermann gave the largest dose of hope since Strasburg was diagnosed as requiring Tommy John surgery throughout his performance last night. He pitched practically flawlessly for six innings, facing the minimum of 18 batters, striking out nine, walking none and only allowing one hit. A perfect display of returning to form from Tommy John surgery (and again, in only twelve months). He should have been the story of last night's game that posted zeros across the line score until ... In the doghouse

For skipping a movie last night and staying glued to the game (what, did you think something else?) I was intrigued by the new lineup. 1. Kennedy 2. Desmond 3. Bernadina 4. Zimmerman 5. Dunn 6. Morse 7. Pudge 8. Morgan 9. Livo A truly brain-flipping order. Zimm and Dunn at 4 & 5? Morgan 8th? Bernadina where Zimmerman usually is? Mmmkay - that should be interesting. I was mighty curious how it would work out. Ghostbusters on the barn was set to start at sundown (shortly after 8 PM), so ... Continue Reading
