Ice cream and American Heroes

Posted on April 29, 2008 at 9:22 am

Hey, look at that! I was planning on posting about the duo of backup-backup catcher Wil Nieves (Ice Cream) and pitcher John Lannan (American Hero) and it turns out today is Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day! While Wil Nieves may be the "flavor of the month" as someone said somewhere, maybe the flavor is so delicious, it should stick around a while? As Nieves said in a postgame interview, he's "hyper" behind the plate to keep the pitcher ... Continue Reading

Revise those starting rotation guesstimates!

John Patterson is definitely not going to make the list because the Nationals just released him. Not traded - released! No, it's not April Fool's Day yet. Holy cow! Never saw that one coming. I thought we'd be yo-yoed along for his "I'm okay, I'm not feeling quite right, I'm fine, I had an off-day-but-the-arm-is-fine" carousel for-evah! I just watched him throw BP in Ft. Lauderdale in what was the worst of three crappy baseball games I saw while ... Continue Reading

Maybe the Nat's will just pay ... Continue Reading

Ballpark Grass and Catchers

Peek-a-boo! Only 10 more days til my book deadline and I should be back to full steam. Whew. I think my job should let my team do a "Making the Sausage" blog on the life of keeping a big site up and running and on the cutting edge of new technology. I could talk about the glamorous stuff like being on call and getting intimate with a Blackberry that likes to wake you up every hour during the night. For ... Continue Reading

A Whole New Look

Posted on May 8, 2007 at 5:06 pm

So, yeah, Cristian Guzman and Nook Logan were back on the field yesterday, moving Ronnie Belliard to the bench, Felipe Lopez to 2nd and Ryan Church to left field. The configuration should remain that way for the foreseeable future. I enjoyed hearing Nook on the pre-game radio show - nice to have him back. I'll miss Ronnie in the field, but hopefully he'll bring more pop to the bench where it is desperately needed. Considering he was "hired" to be ... Continue Reading
