My big accomplishment today was not blowing up. I’ll take it.
So heading to a weekend of wing foiling lessons in the Keys (and a break from hurricane cleanup), I was in Miami, only 20 miles from where I was going to stop to do my work day when a semi tire appeared in my lane on its side (huge and not flat like you usually find them!). There was a lot of traffic and not a lot of time to react, so I swerved a little so it would hit the front driver corner of the van, hoping for a glancing blow. It hit good and I heard popping and banging noises after, so I got off on the next exit (while swearing a lot). Rolled down the window and stuck my head out on the exit and quickly realized propane was seriously leaking out, so I went into the first parking lot I saw and parked far away from other cars/people. Grabbed Riley, my phone, my ipad and laptop and abandoned van and called the fire department. They sent an FHP officer who did an accident report and could clearly see the propane hissing out, but did nothing else. I called a few emergency RV repair/mobile repair places and no one was available. One said they weren’t mobile, but I could drive it in (3.5 miles away). So I took a meeting and waited until the hissing seemed nearly done and the tank emptied before I dared start the van again. They said nope, we can’t fix that. So I bungee corded the dangling parts up as best I could and carried on my way. Made it to the Keys 🙂
But here I am without propane for the third time!
