I found Bryce Canyon NP to be stunning – I liked it a lot more than Zion (and Arches). We took our time on the second day to really explore the entire park. Beautiful! The geological formations were fascinating and seemed to go on forever.
After getting back on the road, I found us a campsite whose name was something like “Moon Crater” right off the interstate. The road in was incredibly washboard with everything rattling. I was doing about 5mph and a passenger car went flying by me. Must be nice to not get rattled!
The crater was definitely something to behold and looked like the moon’s surface. Everything was a dark gray. The wind whipped and blew the fine gravel all over as soon as we stepped out of the van. After an attempt to set up our chairs, we gave up and decided to leave.
My brother was hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and staying at a hotel in a town along our route not far from where we were. We decided to go camp in his hotel parking lot and say hi.
