After three months, I returned to California, two hours from San Diego. Gas prices went up a dollar. Sunset was lovely, but the land I camped on this night was full of trash and needed a “beach cleanup day” for sure. Sunset happened not long after I parked (and I figured after dark, I wouldn’t see the trash). It was quite disheartening to see public lands meant for enjoyment so abused. The location boasted natural hot springs, but Google Maps decided to have some fun with me finding the place. It’s literally right off the interstate, yet the directions took me all over farm roads and even tried to send me down a military looking unpaved “authorized vehicles only” road. I switched to Apple Maps and it took me straight there. I think I’m done with G-maps as that’s not the first time that’s happened and I lost daylight hours to driving in circles.
Some beautiful sunrise pics to accompany the aforementioned trash. Also, I noticed a “pet” spider not long after I got to Florida. At first, I was like, “cool, it eats the bugs that get in the van.” It got bigger as time went on and I tried to find a humane way to evict it from the van, but every time I tried to grab it, it ran up and hid in a seam where I couldn’t get it. I found a dead spider hanging in the web 3 days into the trip, so thought great, problem solved. There must have been two 😞
I found the hot springs this morning and took advantage of them before departing the trash campground. Very nice! Warmest I’ve been in a week 😀 I made it just outside San Diego to a county park with power and water hookups for the first time in a week.
