I awoke to a stunning sunrise over Oceanside beach.
I worked from the beach lot in Oceanside all day (which was fabulous), then packed up and headed a little bit north. What should have been a 1.5 hour drive turned into a 2.5 hour drive, because LA traffic. Ugh! But very happy to have finally arrived to see a friend from DC, who happened to be visiting her mom along my route home and treated me to a great dinner. Yay! It’s been too long!
Our kids are the same ages and grew up together. We took them camping and hiking a lot together when they were young.
I street camped a row of houses from the beach after feeding the meter for 12 hours, which seemed to mean it was legit. Waves crashing were clearly heard from the van.
Despite all the signs on the 405 warning of “Severe Storms Fri – Mon. Avoid Travel”, I’ll head home tomorrow and hope for the best. Worst comes to worst, I have everything I need to survive comfortably on board and can just find a place to hang til things pass. The road to Half Moon Bay is still closed due to a giant hole eating the road up, but there are other ways to the coast (just not as convenient).
