To take AT’s bike to her (and my eBike for any exploration I wanted to do along the way after getting set up in camp), I put our decades old bike rack on the hitch. It was not meant for the wide frames of eBikes and the straps to hook around the frame were brittle and prone to breaking. Several had already broken at this point and I was out of spares from the unused parts of the rack. Every time I stopped, I checked the bikes and they were hanging more and more precariously. I finally checked to see if there was an REI along my route.

I found one in Salt Lake City and stopped to purchase a new rack that worked for eBikes. Instead of hanging from the frame, the wheels sat on grooved tracks with arms that locked on to the frame. Yay, no more bungee cords and paracord to try to tie it all together. Whew! Much better.
