California : October 10, 2021

Due to all the Florida humidity, the “airline table” behind the passenger seat swelled up and got stuck in the holding cabinet. I tried various methods to unstick it.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, by far. We prepared by carving a pumpkin big enough to fit N in. She was not thrilled.

I bought a TOAD (tow vehicle) thinking we could tow it with the van. It was a super cute 2013 Fiat 500 convertible with really low miles that I got a great deal on. We even ordered a tow dolly. Ultimately, it just became a Florida car and we never towed it. The van is flexible enough to just wander off in and not require a second vehicle. Plus we had the eBikes.

And then I left the van behind and flew back to California. In the meantime, I had been searching the internet for that W45H error code from my Truma and I came across this Go Small Live Large YouTube video. The video didn’t actually help me troubleshoot/solve the error. At best, it showed me how to reset and clear the error, but it just came back. I don’t have the “L” model (lithium) that allows me to run electric while not plugged in, but I was intrigued and checked out his website, Go Small Live Large. I read the About page, where I saw he used to work for the same company as me. Whoa! And he left corporate life to do van life full time. Whoa!

At a time when I was questioning all my life choices and priorities, it hit home. I noticed he does “Round Ups” for meetups and that one would be taking place in CA while I was there, so I signed up.

I think a work thing came up and ultimately, I was unable to attend. But I spent a great first week back at the office reconnecting with my team and colleagues before flying back to Florida a week later.
